For Business OwnersA marketplace connects advertisers who want a publication with publishers who have readers. In between it holds the money, watches the progress and gives both sides rules. We describe who is who, how money, text and trust flow, what the price consists of and how a marketplace differs from an agency and from buying directly.
A marketplace for PR articles is a platform that connects advertisers who want a publication with publishers who have readers. The advertiser enters a request or picks a medium from the catalogue, the publisher offers a price, and the marketplace holds the money and watches the progress until the publication is confirmed. The point is simple: replace a week of e-mailing with one place where prices, terms and order status are visible.
A purchase is best imagined as three flows that meet in one order.
Money. You usually buy from prepaid credit. When the advertiser accepts an offer, the corresponding amount is blocked – it is not a payment, only a reservation. It is released to the publisher only after the publication is confirmed. The advertiser therefore does not pay for a promise and the publisher knows the work will be paid.
Text. The content is supplied either by the advertiser or prepared by the publisher or a copywriter. Before publication the advertiser approves it: checks the target link, the anchor, the claims and whether the text matches the style of the medium. The publisher may return the text for editing if it does not meet the rules of its website. How to write a text an editorial team accepts is described in a separate article.
Trust. After publication the publisher provides the address and the advertiser checks it. Objections are resolved in the order, not over the phone. A paid publication should be labelled as a commercial message and the link given the appropriate attribute; Google’s rules on this are described in its documentation on qualifying links.
The price usually contains three items: the publication (what the publisher charges for space on its website), the text (if you do not supply it yourself) and the marketplace commission. A good marketplace shows the final price in advance, so nothing extra appears on the invoice. A more detailed breakdown is in the article on how a marketplace for PR articles works and what the price consists of. The difference between placement on the front page and in a section is described in a separate text.
A marketplace is not the only route. Buying directly from a medium is cheapest but time-consuming. An agency does more work for you and costs more. A marketplace sits between them: it gives prices and parameters in advance, but selection and briefing stay with you. A comparison of all routes is in the article on where to buy PR articles for SEO.
A marketplace connects advertisers and publishers and holds money, text and trust between them: payment is released after the confirmed publication, you approve the content before publishing and objections are resolved in the order. The price contains the publication, possibly the text, and the commission, and its final figure should be visible. It does not guarantee rankings or devise strategy, but it saves weeks of e-mailing.
