For Business OwnersPeople no longer look up a plumber, dentist or restaurant in a directory – they ask the map and, ever more often, an AI assistant. The systems assemble the answer from three sources: the business profile, reviews and what local websites write about the company. A guide for owners on how to occupy all three sources without turning it into a science.
“Plumber Brno” used to be a query for a business directory. Today it goes to the map, the search engine – and increasingly to an AI assistant that straight away recommends two or three companies by name. For the owner of a brick-and-mortar shop or a local service this is good news: local visibility is built cheaply and the competition mostly neglects it. It is enough to occupy the three sources the recommendation is assembled from.
A filled-in Google Business Profile (and on the Czech market also Firmy.cz) is the foundation without which nothing else works: an accurate category, opening hours, photos, services, answers to questions. What matters is consistency of the details – name, address and phone must be identical everywhere, because the systems match the company by exactly these. A typo in the address on one directory means two different companies to the machine.
Reviews are the strongest quality signal for local queries – and the only one your customers write for you. The working routine is simple: ask for a review after every job well done (in person or by SMS with a link) and reply to all of them, critical ones included. Buying reviews does not pay twice over: platforms delete them and customers spot them.
This is the layer your competition almost certainly does not have. Search engines and language models boost companies that local and industry websites write about: regional news, town portals, trade magazines. In practice this means two to four publications a year – an article about a renovation you did, a comment on a topic in your field, a presentation of your premises on the town website. Every such mention is, for the machine, an independent confirmation that you exist and someone trusts you – and it is exactly from such confirmations that AI assembles its “I recommend”.
Local visibility is not about budget but about consistency: a unified profile, living reviews and a few local mentions a year.
The first two sources you can handle yourself in an afternoon a month. With the third one the Linketica marketplace helps – regional and industry websites with prices up front, without calling round the newsrooms.
