Google AI Mode Arrives in Czechia: What Changes for Website Traffic
Google has launched AI Mode for Czech users too, and AI Overviews appear on an ever larger share of queries. Experience from markets where AI Mode has run longer shows that only a small fraction of such searches end with a click to a website. What that means for websites on the Czech market, where the impact is biggest and what can realistically be done about it.

AI Mode je konverzace, ne seznam odkazů. Web, který v odpovědi nefiguruje, z rozhodování vypadává.
For a long time it was news from abroad – and now it is Czech reality. Google AI Mode, the conversational search mode, is available to Czech users as well, and AI Overviews (AI summaries above the results) appear in Czech search on a growing share of queries. For websites this is no cosmetic change: the very place where the visitor makes decisions is moving.
What exactly changed
Classic search always worked as a signpost: ten links and the user chose. AI Mode works as an advisor: it answers the query with a finished answer assembled from several sources, asks follow-ups, compares. Links did not disappear, but they stepped back into the role of citations next to the answer. Experience from markets where AI Mode has run longer suggests that only single percentage points of such searches end with a click to a website.
Dopad není všude stejný. Nejvíc ztrácejí informační dotazy, kde odpověď uspokojí i bez kliknutí.
Where it hurts and where not yet
Informational queries (“how to choose…”, “what is…”, “comparison…”) lose the most – the answer satisfies the reader without a click. Sites built on advisory content see it in their analytics first.
Transactional and product queries are holding for now – whoever wants to buy wants to see prices, availability and the shop. But AI is gradually growing into this space too, through shopping recommendations.
Branded queries remain the most stable: whoever searches for you directly will click through to you as well.
What can be done about it
Stop measuring only visits. Part of the value has moved into appearances inside answers. Track whether AI names you on the key queries, and the trend in branded queries – that is the new top of the funnel.
Write quotably. Direct answers, numbers, definitions and structure – content a model can take a sentence from, not an essay.
Build third-party mentions. AI answers lean on media and independent sources. A brand nobody writes about has nowhere to be cited from – and this is where classic PR meets the new visibility.
Do not panic about transactions. Whoever sells mainly needs to be recommended in the selection phase – that is, before the transactional query is even typed.
Summary
AI Mode did not abolish search. It moved the decision one step earlier – into an answer you are either in or not.
Czech numbers are still settling and it pays to measure them on your own website rather than adopting foreign averages. One thing is certain: visibility in answers is built with mentions in trustworthy media – and that is exactly what the Linketica marketplace helps with.
Časté otázky
What is Google AI Mode?
The conversational search mode of Google: instead of a list of links the user gets a finished answer assembled from several sources and can ask follow-up questions. Links to websites step back into the role of citations next to the answer. Google has made it available to Czech users as well.
How much traffic will I lose to AI Mode?
There is no universal number and Czech data is still settling. Experience from markets where AI Mode has run longer suggests that only single percentage points of such searches end with a click. Informational queries lose the most; transactional and branded ones are holding for now.
How do I get into AI Mode answers?
With a combination of quotable content (direct answers, numbers, structure) and third-party mentions – AI answers lean on media and independent sources. A brand nobody writes about has nowhere to be cited from.
What should I measure instead of visits?
Whether AI names you on the key queries (a fixed set of 20–30 queries, checked monthly), the trend of branded queries in Search Console and only then classic visits. Part of the value has moved into appearances inside answers, which analytics will not show.
